Super Saturday comes a day late this week....not because I wasn't diligently blogging....but because I was not able to publish this post before my midnight deadline.
Super Saturday celebrates women doing awesome things! Today I am introducing you to two of my friends, Suki Jones and Black Orchid. In addition, I am providing you an opportunity to win tickets to see them perform.
Suki Jones and Black Orchid are both members of Stars and Garters Burlesque.
Stars and Garters Burlesque was introduced to San Antonio audiences in 2008.
Current Cast Members include: Suki Jones, Black Orchid, Pystol Whips, Lucky Strike, Kandy Cane, and Foxxy Blue Orchid.
Suki Jones is a swingin' sixties siren with an undeniable love for rock and roll. Hailing from Stars and Garters Burlesque in San Antonio, Texas, she's been rousing audiences young and old since 2006. Known for presenting classic rock songs with a burlesque twist, her smile, energy, and tongue in cheek humor will steal your heart.
Most recently, Miss Jones won the Jada Award for Dirtiest Dancer at the Dallas Burlesque Festival!
Black Orchid is an exotic beauty who ran away from her tropical island greenhouse in search of even hotter times. She found a new home in the Alamo City where she blooms as a member of Stars & Garters Burlesque. Black Orchid specialises in routines that are mesmerising, magical and always glamorous. She loves a classic strip with an exotic twist and also has several speciality acts featuring her expertise with fire-eating, aerial dance & hooping.
Black Orchid has graced the local stage at several events and venues including The Sterling Houston Theater and the Korova Club. She has also performed at the Texas Burlesque Festival for three years (and placed in the Top Four Audience Favourites in 2011) as well as the Dallas Burlesque Festival. Black Orchid was the first international model and performer for Dr Sketchy's Singapore in 2011. She will be performing at the first Asian Burlesque Spectacular in New York in May 2013.
Stars and Garters will be kicking off their 2013 season on March 23, 2013. Their performance begins promptly at 8pm. The performance venue is Jumpstart Theater Company in The Blue Star Arts Complex. Tickets go on sale March 1, 2013 and can be purchased at Stars and Garters website.

Sadly, I just learned I will be unable to attend (and trust me...I am WAY BEYOND BUMMED) however I encourage each of you to spend the evening out celebrating an little known art form. These performances are thoughtful, playful, classy and inspiring!
