Mellow and Yellow

Today Fete is doing something a little different!  Welcome to a "blog circle!"
Question:  What is a "blog circle?"
Answer: A group of bloggers organize around a topic and each contribute their thoughts to said topic.  At the end of their post they refer you onto another contributing blog and so on and so forth until you come back to the original.  Hence the "circle" in blog "circle."
Together with The Good List...I am happy to present my choice for a delicious and "lush libation" appropriate for this holiday season!

I give you "Sgroppino." What?  "Sgropinno!"

I had the luxury of laying around and watching The Cooking Channel on Saturday night.  (In all honesty...this is my favorite Saturday night activity.  Along with a good episode or two of LockUp.)  Anyhow...for the holidays Giada de Laurentiis has hooked up with Sabrina Soto to give one devilishly lucky couple a new kitchen AND a party to usher in their freshly remodeled digs.

Giada recommended the "signature drink" (and yes, she added air quotes) be Sgroppino.

Lemon, yes, lemon is the main character of this fizzle dizzle cocktail.  I know lemon is not something typically considered in the lexicon of Christmas flavors.  But, hear me out on this one.  I live in Texas.  It is still hot.  It is still humid.  A refreshing lemon drink served up at a Christmas party is not outside the realm of reality around these parts.  Plus...I am a year round fan of "the lemon."  It is so diverse...hits savory, compliments sweet....

While there are many recipes available, with various permutations and variations, I am sticking with my girl Giada's recipe.  She is, after all, the expert on all things Italian...and just so damn cute! I mean...don't you just long to be one of the people she invites over at the end of her program.  They are all beautiful, yoga-esque and California happy!  And there are always delightful libations being clinked about.

Sgroppino
1 cup chilled Prosecco (Italian Sparkling Wine)
2 tablespoons chilled vodka
1/3 cup chilled lemon sorbet
1/4 teaspoons chopped fresh mint leaves

Pour Prosecco and vodka into two champagne flutes (dividing equally).  Spoon in a scoop of sorbet into each flute.  Sprinkle in mint...(BOOM-mint makes it festive) and serve immediately!

Now...click on over to my friend Jessica's blog, Gin and Juiceboxes, for what undoubtedly will be a wonderful cocktail...which I would venture to say will include Gin!
